FRUSTRATIONS

Being an independent artist comes with it's frustrations.  For me the biggest one is keeping up with my online presence.  Updating my website, my EPK, Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Threads and YouTube is time consuming as hell and I don't even have TikTok, X, Snapchat or many of the other platforms out there so many artists are on.

There is immense pressure to continually be creating and posting new content. I can't help but think that for every minute I'm updating social media or editing some reel, I could be improving my guitar playing or writing a song.  Aren't I supposed to be a musician not a social media content creator?  The truth is that unless you can hire someone to do it for you, Yes! You are gonna be spending time creating content.

Days like today are frustrating.  I haven't touched my guitar once and I can see the sun starting to set. I spent the day researching how to automatically post this blog onto all my social media sites and my website.  Let's just say I was not successful.

When I have days like this, I look at photos like the one below and try to remember that the pay off is that I get to spend my life doing something I love, singing songs and playing for people.
