PIVOTING
Well some days just don't work out the way you planned. I had full intentions of working on a song today based on a quote I saw on a coffee mug of all places. It said:
"I CAN'T CONTROL THE WIND BUT I CAN
CONTROL HOW I SET MY SAILS."
But this morning I woke up to water on the basement floor. Water was leaking out of a valve on the hot water tank. I got a bucket under the over-flow spout and called my brother-in-law. I knew he'd know the fix and he did. The pressure valve on the hot water tank had given up the ghost. It was time to replace it. I thought about phoning a plumber but I knew that would cost a few hundred dollars just for the visit and being a touring folk artist, I'm not exactly pulling in the big bucks, so I went to YouTubed and did a little DIY. I borrowed a pipe wrench from my father-in-law, took out the valve, took a quick rip to Rona and $20 later had a new valve on my hot water tank. I realize I'm making this sound like I did it in 20 minutes but it took about 4 hours in total.
So what does one do when plans are thrown out the door? Go running of course. I spent the afternoon with my dog Edie running the trails along the Old Man in the river valley of Lethbridge.
I'll try that song tomorrow.
