THE WOODSHED

I spent some time this morning talking with Aaron Talbot.  He is my contact with the Arts Branch for my new role as Alberta's Artist-in-Residence and Arts Ambassador.  Simply put, he's my "go to" guy when I have questions, concerns, or need help.  He's also there to follow along and keep me on track as I go through the next year in this role. We meet every Wednesday now at 9:30 AM to review my week and look ahead to the next.

After that it was time to drive to Calgary for a rehearsal.  I spend so much time on the road that most days I feel like a professional driver instead of an artist. I'm sure I'll talk more about road life in a future post.

One of the projects that I started in addition to my solo career is called The Woodshed. It is a duo project with Calgary-based songwriter T. Buckley.  We describe The Woodshed as a modern folk duo with a beautiful vocal blend of brotherly harmonies combined with sophisticated songwriting alongside intricate guitar playing.

Here's a little sizzler video of what we do.

The rehearsal in Calgary was for an upcoming show that The Woodshed have coming up in Fort Saskatchewan at the Shell Theatre in the Dow Centennial Centre.

We wanted to do a special night for this show so we called on some of the best musicians in the province to create a knock-out killer back up band to join us for this one-night only configuration of The Woodshed. I love these guys and I know I'll be highlighting them in future posts.

On upright bass, Jason Valleau

On keys, Steve Fletcher

On drums, Jon May
